Ingredients for Homemade Pretzels
- Ballerina Farm Flour
- Stainless steel tray
- Parchment paper
- Large pot
- Water
- Bob's Red Mill baking soda
For salted pretzels:
- 1 organic pasture-raised egg
- Redmond sea salt
For cinnamon sugar pretzels:
- Grass-fed butter
- Organic cinnamon
- Organic cane sugar
How to Make Homemade Soft Pretzels
1. Make your dough
Prepare your dough using Ballerina Farm Flour.
2. Shape the pretzels
- Cut the dough into four pieces
- Roll each piece into a long rope (“snake” shape)
- Twist into a classic pretzel shape
Repeat for all pieces.
3. Prepare the baking soda bath
Fill a large pot with water and add 2 tablespoons of baking soda.
Heat until it’s just about to boil.
4. Boil the pretzels
Carefully place each pretzel into the water for 30 seconds, one at a time.
5. Prep for baking
Place each pretzel onto parchment paper on your stainless steel tray.
6. Preheat the oven
Set your oven to 450°F.
For Salted Pretzels
- Whisk the egg and brush (egg wash) over each pretzel
- Sprinkle with Redmond’s sea salt
- Bake for 12 minutes, or until golden brown
For Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels
- Bake pretzels for 12 minutes
- While still warm, coat with melted grass-fed butter
- Roll in a mixture of organic cinnamon + organic cane sugar
