DIY Vitamin C Spray for Pool Days

DIY Vitamin C Spray for Pool Days

f you swim regularly — especially in chlorinated pools — this is one of the easiest low-tox swaps you can make for your skin and hair.

Most pools contain chlorine and chloramines, which can leave your skin feeling dry, irritated, itchy, and tight after swimming. Even many saltwater pools still contain chlorine, just in smaller amounts.

One simple way to help reduce that exposure? A DIY Vitamin C spray.

Vitamin C works by helping neutralize chlorine on the skin, converting chlorine and chloramines into compounds that are less harsh on the body. I love using this spray both before and after swimming as an extra layer of support for my skin and hair.

DIY Vitamin C Pool Spray

What You’ll Need

  • 1 cup filtered water
(I use water from my Clearly Filtered pitcher)
  • 1 teaspoon Vitamin C powder
(Sodium ascorbate is preferred, but ascorbic acid works too)
  • 1 tablespoon liquid coconut oil (optional for extra moisture)
  • 1 amber glass spray bottle (8 oz.)

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to your glass spray bottle.
  2. Shake well until fully combined.
  3. Spray onto skin and hair before swimming and again afterward.

That’s it — simple, quick, and easy to keep in your beach or pool bag all summer long.

Why I Love This Swap

After pool days, my skin and hair usually feel so much better when I use this spray. The added coconut oil also helps provide a little extra hydration, especially after long days in the sun.

It’s one of those small wellness habits that feels easy to incorporate but can really help reduce unnecessary chemical exposure over time.

A Few Helpful Tips

  • Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Shake before each use since the oil may separate.
  • Because Vitamin C can oxidize over time, it’s best to make smaller batches and use within 1–2 weeks.
  • You can also spray swimsuits lightly before washing if desired.
