Healthy Places to eat and shop in NYC

Because yes  you can live your clean, non-toxic lifestyle even in the city that never sleeps!

This past September, I visited New York City three times (yes, three!) to hang out with friends and honestly, I left each trip thinking the same thing: NYC is truly where it’s at if you want to shop and eat clean.

From nourishing cafés to hidden wellness markets, the city is packed with amazing spots that make it so easy to stay aligned with your health goals without sacrificing flavor or fun. Here are some of my top picks from my trips, plus what I ordered or loved at each one.

🥑 Impact Kitchen
If you want a fresh, energizing start to your morning, this is the spot.

I had their omelette for breakfast perfectly fluffy and loaded with fresh veggies and later tried the pesto wrap, which was absolutely delicious. Don’t skip their treats, especially the chocolate cookie… it’s clean, rich, and ridiculously good.

🍲 Springbone Kitchen
A cozy and simple spot focused on real ingredients. Their menu is filled with nutrient-dense options like bone broth, hearty bowls, and paleo-friendly meals. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel good from the inside out.

🥦 Rooted
I loved the simplicity and balance of this place. I ordered the rice with chicken, caramelized onions, and broccoli, and it was flavorful, comforting, and wholesome  the kind of meal that hits just right after a long city day.

🍕 Happier Grocer
Think of this one as a mini Erewhon  a clean-living paradise with tons of amazing products, snacks, and even a hot food bar. The sourdough pizza and chicken tenders were next-level crispy, clean, and full of flavor. Definitely a must-stop if you’re on the go and want something healthy. The protein ice cream was amazing too. They use Ballerina Farms protein.

🛍️ Pop Up Grocer
If you’re a clean-product lover like me, this store will feel like heaven. It’s filled with unique, better-for-you brands  from snacks to skincare many of which you won’t find in big-box stores yet. Every shelf feels like a curated discovery.

🍗 COQODAQ
Yes, it’s fine dining with fried chicken  and somehow, it still fits the “clean” bill. Their ingredients are high-quality, and the vibe is super chic. Perfect for a girls’ night out when you still want to eat consciously but indulge a little.

🍓 Butterfield Market
A neighborhood gem with healthy grab-and-go options, smoothies, and fresh ingredients. If you love smoothies like I do, make sure you try Hunter’s Collab Smoothies  refreshing and so satisfying.

🥘 Hearth
Rooted in the idea of whole, seasonal, and nourishing foods Hearth is a great choice for a sit-down meal that still supports your wellness goals. The menu changes with the seasons, but everything I’ve tried here has been comforting and balanced.

Matchful
Matcha lovers, this one’s for you! This café offers clean, energizing drinks with adaptogens and plant-based ingredients. A great alternative to the typical coffee shop, especially when you need a calm energy boost.

Birch Coffee
If you’re a coffee lover who still wants quality and simplicity, Birch never disappoints. Their coffee is strong, smooth, and ethically sourced plus, their cozy vibes make it the perfect spot to edit, journal, or people-watch.

🌴 Pura Vida
One of my go-to spots anywhere I travel, and NYC’s location doesn’t disappoint. Their meals are fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavor from smoothies to bowls to wraps. Everything tastes like sunshine and good energy.

🥗 Sweetgreen
A classic, but always a win. My favorite order? Create your own bowl with rice, 2–3 servings of steak, cucumbers, onions, and apples. It’s the perfect balance of protein, crunch, and sweetness and it keeps me full for hours.

🛒 Clean Market
If you love discovering new wellness brands, this place is a dream. It’s filled with Jasyra-approved products  from supplements to snacks to beauty essentials. You’ll walk out feeling inspired (and maybe with a few too many goodies in your bag).

Final Thoughts
NYC surprised me  in the best way. For years, people assumed you couldn’t “eat clean” in the city, but these spots prove otherwise. Whether you’re grabbing breakfast on the go, sitting down for a clean dinner, or shopping for non-toxic products, New York truly has it all.
