DIY “Pediasure” Alternative for Kids

DIY “Pediasure” Alternative for Kids

Many parents reach for PediaSure thinking it’s a healthy option for growing kids, but when you take a closer look at the ingredient list, it’s filled with ultra-processed additives, artificial ingredients, seed oils, and unnecessary sugars.

And when it comes to children, reducing toxic load and prioritizing real, nourishing ingredients matters even more.

The good news? You can make a nutrient-dense, protein-rich shake at home in just a few minutes using simple whole-food ingredients.

DIY Kids Nourishing Shake

Ingredients

(Organic ingredients are always best when possible.)

  • 1 cup milk (raw milk is best)
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup frozen bananas
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon protein powder
(I use Just Ingredients protein — code: Jasyra)

Optional Add-Ins

Want to sneak in extra nutrition? Try adding:

  • Baby spinach
  • Raw cauliflower
  • Avocado
  • 1–2 teaspoons peanut butter or almond butter

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Why I Love This Recipe

This shake gives kids healthy fats, protein, probiotics, and real-food nutrients without all the unnecessary fillers found in many store-bought “nutrition shakes.”

It’s also incredibly customizable depending on your child’s taste preferences and nutritional needs.

My favorite part? Most kids genuinely love it because it tastes like a chocolate milkshake. 💛

Better Store-Bought Alternatives

If making your own isn’t realistic every day, there are still some “better-for-you” options available.

Two cleaner alternatives I like are:

  • Kendamil Kids
  • Kate Farms
